Intro to Songwriting

This introductory course teaches the basics of songwriting including both creativity and craft and how the two work together.

Songwriting 1

ID: SW1

Learn the skills needed to create your own songs. Study the way that chords, melodies, rhythms and lyrics are combined together to form great songs. Through regular writing exercises, the student will develop confidence in their abilities while perfecting their craft.

Songwriting 2

ID: SW2

This project-oriented class  teaches students to write, arrange and record their own original three song demo. Upon completion of the project, one or more songs will be picked to be released on an Uptown Music Collective Compilation CD.

Arranging

ID: Arr.

Arranging is the study of the notation and organization of music. In this class, the         student will learn to write music for the most common instruments  while also             studying their function and ways of combining them together to make great music.
