Bright Lights, Big City Blues Week

BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY BLUES WEEK IN WILLIAMSPORT!

The Uptown Music Collective, Billtown Blues Association, and Lycoming Arts Council have joined forces to celebrate blues music in Williamsport with a week of festivities. Two iconic long-standing events, the Uptown Music Collective’s 9th annual Blues-A-Thon and the 28th Annual Billtown Blues Festival will open the celebration on June 2nd and provide a climactic close on Saturday, June 10th. Recent Blues Music Award (BMA) winning artist, “Steady Rollin” Bob Margolin (Muddy Water’s Band and The Last Waltz) is set to kick off the Blues-A-Thon on Pine St on First Friday June 2nd, and will offer a powerful closing set at the Festival with another Muddy Water’s alumnus, Bob Stroger and harp master, Bob Corritore.
This special event is titled “Bright Lights, Big City Blues Week” and is meant to celebrate blues music as an important American art form, as well as the local and regional musicians who have a devoted interest in blues music.  The week of events will also feature downtown art galleries, visual artists, and selected films and documentaries about the blues. Of special note, Williamsport Mayor, Gabe Campana has proclaimed June 2nd thru June 10th as “Blues Week in Williamsport”.
