Welcome to the Uptown Music Collective - Williamsport PA

The Uptown Music Collective is a nonprofit School of Music located at 848 West Fourth Street in Williamsport PA. The school specializes in providing music students of all ages with a modern music education that still remains firmly grounded in proven traditional music instruction principles. The Uptown Music Collective provides high quality private lessons and private instruction from the best teacher/instructors around, for students of all who are interested in voice lessons, guitar lessons, bass lessons, drum lessons, percussion lessons, keyboard lessons or piano lessons. A variety of classes are offered which include music theory, ear training, songwriting, arranging, improvisational theory and more. The school also provides workshops in a wide variety of styles, including: rock, blues, jazz, funk and latin music.

The Uptown Music Collective serves all of central Pennsylvania, so whether you're from South Williamsport, Lewisburg, Montgomery, Montoursville, Jersey Shore, Lock Haven, Hugesville, Muncy, Bloomsburg or anywhere else in between,and want to sing, learn to rip on the guitar, pound on the drum set, slap the bass or play the piano, the Uptown Music Collective is where you want to be.

TIME TO ENROLL FOR THE FALL SEMESTER

Sorry to break it to you, but the summer is quickly coming to an end. The good news however is the Uptown Music Collective is getting ready to enroll new and continuing students for the Fall Semester. This year is going to be the best year yet with more performance opportunities, new workshops and new classes.

Enrollment week is August 30 through September 4th, with the annual Fall Open House being held on Saturday September 4th from 11am to 3pm at our main building at 848 West Fourth Street in Williamsport. UPTOWN TO ROCK WNEP

Students from the Uptown Music Collective, the area’s premier nonprofit school of music, have been given the esteemed privilege of performing for the cameras of WNEP TV and a live audience at a special event on Thursday, September 9th at 7:30pm. The performance, which will take place at the Community Arts Center, will consist of four 30 minute segments of music which will be recorded for broadcast on WNEP’s new channel WNEP2.

The students of the local nonprofit music school first came to the attention of WNEP when they took part in the live broadcast of WNEP’s Leckey Live Morning Show from downtown Williamsport. “Our students performed at intervals throughout the event and surprised the WNEP crew with their highly energetic performance and professionalism,” said school founder Dave Brumbaugh. “Our staff and students, many of whom had stayed up all night setting up and preparing for the 5am broadcast, were extremely excited when producers from WNEP expressed an interest in doing a project with the school. This is such a unique opportunity for our organization,” said Brumbaugh, “our students are being given the chance to show not only what they can do as a group, but what young people in general can do when given the opportunity, discipline and the motivation.”

The material recorded by WNEP at the September 9^th performance will be edited together with interviews with the staff of the school and the Community Arts Center and aired on WNEP2 each Tuesday in November at 7:30pm.

BLUES-A-THON ROLLED ALL NIGHT LONG!

Powered by the energy of a dozen or more hardcore guitar, bass and drum students and rejuvinated every hour or so by teachers, more students and the unstoppable Tas Cru, the Blues-A-Thon rolled through the night and all the way around the clock, 7pm Friday to 7pm Saturday. This years event was sponsored by the Billtown Blues Association who were instrumental in bringing in Tas Cru who headlined the event and oversaw the opening and closing of the jam.

Blues-A-Thon 2010 was live-streamed to the internet via ustream.tv. There people could check in on the event throughout the 24 hours from the comfort of their own home computer. Many positive comments were posted to the Uptown Music Collective's channell throughout the day and night.

This is the second year for the Blues-A-Thon, which is a marathon fundrasier for the Uptown Music Collective that works something like relay for life. This years event raised over $3000, down from last year's event, but a good time was had by all and the event will surely be a continuing part of the schools yearly schedule for many years to come.

The Uptown Music Collective Celebrates their 10th Anniversary

It was a nice event attended by a variety of people including teachers and members of the Board of Directors, as well as donors, former students and parents. Thanks to Vinnies Italian Eatery and Franco's Lounge, Restaurant and Music Club for providing the food and a BIG thanks to Steve from the Bullfrog Brewery for donating the space!

JULY 4TH PERFORMANCE WAS A HOT ONE!

Every year students fromt the Uptown Music Collective open the day long festivities at Backyard Broadcasting's "Set the Night to Music" July 4th celebration. The event put together each year by Backyard Broadcasting, owners of WZXR, WBZD and WILQ to name a few and the UMC Performance Programs Media Sponsor, features bands performing on the main stage from 3pm to 9:30pm and culminates in a spectacular fireworks display over the Susquehanna River. Students from the Collective performed a great set of music while roasting in the afternoon sun. As usual their comraderie and their professionalism carried them through the heat and they gave the small but enthusiastic early afternoon audience a good show.
