Giving Tuesday Now

***THANK YOU!!!***

Watching the support for the Uptown Music Collective roll in over the course of #GivingTuesdayNow reaffirmed our beliefs – that this is something special! We are so grateful for our dedicated supporters who gave more than $2,500 to our efforts to offer exceptional musical experiences to our students and our community.

In this unprecedented time, we’re humbled to know that our efforts to deliver music are still as valuable and important as ever.

From the students, staff, and teachers at the Uptown Music Collective, thank you so much for your generosity!

We can’t wait until we can play for you again!

Giving Tuesday Now

Dear friends and fans,

The last seven weeks have brought previously unfathomable changes, and we all find ourselves living today in a different world.

In response to the Governor’s order, we shut down the Uptown Music Collective’s physical location on March 13th. However, that same day we went into high gear to ensure that we could move our educational offerings online. Each week since, our lessons, classes, and workshops have been delivered to all of our students through online platforms.

While this element of our program remains largely intact, the equally important performance element has taken a major hit. We have been forced to cancel our 20th Anniversary Celebration concert which was slated to take place at the Community Arts Center on April 24th & 25th, as well as a reprise of that production at the Millbrook Playhouse. We have also had to cancel a myriad of smaller gigs featuring our Community Performance Groups and, most recently, we had to cancel our annual summer fundraiser, Blues-A-Thon. These cancelations result in a conservatively estimated loss of $30,000.

The income from these performances, large and small, help keep our tuition costs as low as possible and help the Uptown Music Collective continue to deliver our mission to the community we love.

On Tuesday, May 5th, the Uptown Music Collective is participating in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity and giving. We will be accepting donations on our website via PayPal, as well as donations directly on Facebook. Not only do we need your support, but we also need your help to spread the word. Please tell your friends and family why you believe in our work and encourage them to support us too!

We want all of you to know, despite the changes and challenges that we face today, that the Uptown Music Collective is still here. We’re proud of our tenacity, our ability to adapt in the face ofadversity, and we are grateful to continue to educate, support, and provide a sense of continuity and normalcy for our students during this difficult time.
Most importantly, we are still dedicated to making sure that the world we find ourselves in today, and tomorrow, will continue to be filled with beautiful music.

Thank you for being a part of the Uptown Music Collective family and thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing all of you again soon when this dark cloud is lifted. In the meantime, please keep yourselves, your families, and your community safe.

Be the light in the darkness. We are all in this together.
