The Uptown Music Collective is led by a small, dedicated staff, governed by a board of directors, and elevated through the efforts of its teachers.

Each group is committed to the students, and to making sure that every person who enters the Collective leaves as a better version of themselves.

Our teachers

Our teachers are passionate musician teachers, experienced in the art of engaging, guiding, and inspiring students of all ages. 

At the Collective, we believe that everyone has music in them waiting to come out. Our teachers are dedicated to doing the work and demonstrating the patience that is required to find that music within each of our students.

We succeed by following a thorough, well thought out curriculum, and by focusing on the connection and relationship building that is the foundation of effective learning. Our constant efforts to further refine the way we teach help us to guide our students along the path of learning while adjusting our methods and teaching styles to fit each students’ specific needs. And we don’t shy away from holding our students to the highest standards. 

They’re the epicenter of everything we do – the secret behind our past, current, and future success.

Our Staff

 

The Staff of the Uptown Music Collective is committed to providing the highest quality musical education possible – one filled with high-impact performance opportunities, regular positive interaction with peers, upstanding mentorship, and “real world” technical training that will serve them now and later. Beyond music, our staff is committed to teaching discipline, respect, and the rewards of hard work.

With several former UMC students on staff, the functional leaders of our efforts have a unique, two-sided experience – one that gives them a deeper understanding of what our programs mean to our students. Their perspective on the work we do helps to drive home the belief in the one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime experience of the Uptown Music Collective. 

Tip-toeing the line between exceptional professionalism and passionate artistry, each member of our staff makes a meaningful contribution to our mission as they fill their roles in the Collective family. They’re the gears that keep us moving forward, and they love what they do.

Our Board of directors

 

Our engaged and growth-focused board of directors oversees the successful execution of the organization’s day to day function, weighs in on the development of long-term strategic goals, and actively supports our mission.

They meet bi-monthly to discuss finances, business climate, fundraising needs, and other important issues impacting our school. With a focus on measuring every action against our mission, they strive to keep the organization true to its ideals and on a continuous path toward growth and sustainability. 

Our Board, like the rest of our organization, is made up of a great group of professionals from many fields of endeavor who are passionate about what we do. They generously volunteer their time and expertise to make sure that our organization can continue to do what it does today and forward into the future.

In Memorial Celebrating UMC Board of Director Member and Friend, Meg Finn.

Meg Finn, who passed away suddenly in November, was a passionate and tireless supporter of the arts, an inspiring and devoted friend, and a truly loving and giving spirit. She was a powerful advocate for the Uptown Music Collective, both in her private life, and later as a member of the UMC Board of Directors. Meg’s love of our work inspired the staff, who she worked so hard to support, endeared her to the students, and to everyone else who knew her within the organization. She was brilliant, vibrant, and endlessly giving. She will be greatly missedMay the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may you find peace. We Love You, Meg.
