“My experience at the Collective and with Dave, in general, prepared me for so many challenges in life that I did not see or appreciate until I was older. Learning a musical instrument and how to understand music, in general, is a very intimidating thing when you are just starting out and I thought of it as almost a lark when I went to my first lesson back in 1993. That day ended up being the beginning of the rest of my life. I learned I could do things I never thought possible.”

“The most valuable lesson I learned through the Collective is that discipline, practice, and determination are all you need to be great. Some people are born with more natural talent than others but that only means they move faster. You can learn to do ANYTHING if you take responsibility for your own determination.”

“I continue to support my community of arts by going to see bands, I tout them on social media, I play shows, I get musicians to start bands with me, I reach out and communicate with other musicians. I buy records, I buy t-shirts, I go to concerts…etc.”

“I have never seen another organization quite like the Collective. Where they have taken it since I was a student is absolutely mind-blowing. These kids are leaving for college with a gift that is absolutely priceless. People dream their whole lives about the experiences those kids get to have.”

“I can’t think of one thing in Williamsport besides the UMC that is doing more to enrich kids and make that town better. It’s the goddamn soul of the town in my opinion.”
