“The Uptown Music Collective has helped me to feel more confident in myself and my aspirations. I learned how to be an efficient team-member that works hard and well towards things bigger than myself.

The combination of music classes/workshops, the many community performance groups, and SPG1 really aided in my stress and time management. The amount of time and effort needed to perfect every infinitesimal detail that goes into performances and projects has really helped me gain perspective on what is really important in any kind of major preparation.

The UMC taught me that there is no minor performance or rehearsal. Every single stepping stone on my musical journey is indispensable. The music that we performed most of all helped me broaden my horizons in terms of different genres and skill/technique difficulties.

Music really awakened my soul and spirituality enough to find reason and a place within this world. Overall, the UMC changed my life for the better and I am especially grateful.

The most valuable lesson that I learned whilst at the collective is that all the sweat and tears put into perfecting any task will be worth it in the end. At the moment, things might seem to be falling apart all around you, but if you go in with the right mindset, do your work and remember the sole purpose behind what you’re doing, you will reach your goals.

Music is what grounds me. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if I just spend 9 hours working on a music-related project. I can always find the right song that gives me inspirational chills. Music is the one thing that never grows old. It’s like a footprint that stays forever engrained in the heart of the world. It will always be there for me when everything else seems to be lost.

I do my best to make it to every local performance possible. I listen in on songwriter rounds and cheer my friends on in their musical endeavors.”

The UMC offers a wide range of opportunities for anybody and everybody looking to become a well-rounded musician. It is important to support the UMC because in that, you are supporting hundreds of kids and even adults who want to learn more about their passion for music.

You are giving a helping hand to those looking to better themselves. There are so many kids around the world who couldn’t even imagine attending a music school like the UMC.

I’ve lived all over the country and The Uptown Music Collective is the best non-profit school of music that I have ever come across.”
